Position Overview

Cleveland-Cliffs Steel LLC is seeking a Senior Process Control Engineer to enhance our operational capabilities. This role is pivotal in delivering Level 2 Supervisory Automation support aimed at boosting efficiency, quality, and productivity within our steel manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a leader in cross-functional teams for special projects and initiatives.
  • Oversee real-time monitoring of supervisory computer systems related to steel mill operations, ensuring the maintenance and enhancement of both hardware and software.
  • Engage in research and analysis to design and sustain manufacturing control systems that drive continuous improvement.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations interpreting findings, offering actionable conclusions and recommendations.
  • Develop custom software solutions, including programming language code and database configurations for tracking and communication systems.
  • Implement and maintain software related to mill processes, focusing on product tracking, dimensioning, and data analysis.
  • Utilize advanced engineering techniques to identify and evaluate production projects, providing solutions to complex challenges.
  • Manage relationships with union personnel, contractors, and operational teams to foster a collaborative work environment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or computer-related discipline, such as Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in software development, programming, and system maintenance within a technical team.
  • Proficiency in programming languages including C, C#, Fortran, VB.NET, Java/JavaScript, C++, Python, and Microsoft SQL.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools and applications.
  • Basic knowledge of computer networking and routing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex programming logic.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience in a self-directed team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ten years of experience in the field and a relevant bachelor's degree.
  • Extensive programming experience in various high-level languages.
  • Experience with database management systems and SQL Server Reporting Services.
  • Familiarity with process modeling and control systems.
  • Strong project management capabilities.
