Position Overview

Preferred Experience: Background in Neurosurgery or Orthopedic Surgery is highly desirable.

The Clinical Educator for Point of Care is responsible for providing educational support and training for new staff members, as well as facilitating ongoing professional development for existing team members through structured and informal training sessions. This role is pivotal in enhancing the skills of bedside clinical staff and empowering them with knowledge to ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based nursing care. Collaboration with the clinical education team is essential to provide necessary computer training and ongoing education as required. This position also involves the oversight of quality assurance reports to ensure accurate documentation and compliance. The educator will adhere to and instruct others on the established nursing process, which includes patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Furthermore, this role ensures compliance with hospital policies, nursing standards, and regulatory requirements. The Clinical Educator actively participates in initiatives aimed at improving clinical outcomes and achieving departmental objectives. In alignment with the organizational goals, this position is crucial in driving enhancements in quality and service, focusing on improving retention rates, patient satisfaction scores, and reducing hospital-acquired conditions. Working alongside certified clinicians, the educator serves as a subject matter expert and consultant to leadership, ensuring that professional nursing standards are integrated into clinical operations and decision-making. The role encompasses responsibilities as an educator, leader, change agent, and researcher.

Key Responsibilities
  • Designs, presents, and coordinates educational programs and orientation for departmental staff.
  • Facilitates the continuous education of unit staff, including orientation and development programs.
  • Collaborates with unit management and clinical staff to assess learning needs and identify areas for improvement in patient care.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of evidence-based practices.
  • Provides expertise in staff development as an educator, consultant, facilitator, and leader.
  • Delivers a comprehensive orientation program for newly hired staff.
  • Conducts required in-services and training sessions, documenting all educational activities.
  • Promotes a supportive learning environment that encourages self-motivation and professional growth.
  • Engages in departmental quality improvement efforts and develops educational programs based on quality monitoring outcomes.
  • Actively seeks new developments in educational methodologies and contributes to professional growth initiatives.
Qualifications

Preferred Experience: Background in Neurosurgery or Orthopedic Surgery is highly desirable.

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required.
  • Master's Degree must be obtained within three years of employment.
Work Experience:
  • 1-3 years of experience in acute care nursing is required.
  • 2 years of experience in acute care, emergency department, or critical care nursing is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Registered Nurse license in the State of Florida or eligible compact state is required upon hire.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required upon hire.
  • ACLS certification from the American Heart Association is required upon hire.
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification is required upon hire.
  • Professional Nursing Certification must be obtained within three years.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Demonstrates leadership abilities and a commitment to education as a means of promoting continuous quality improvement in patient care.
  • Proficient in electronic medical records, computerized physician order entry, and medication administration systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking capabilities.
