Clinical Nurse Specialist

The Clinical Nurse Specialist provides personalized, goal-oriented nursing care through the application of the nursing process and primary nursing principles, adhering to the established policies and procedures of the department and healthcare facility. This role involves supporting physicians in various patient-related tasks, including continuous cardiac monitoring, medication administration, intravenous therapy, oxygen support, and emergency resuscitation efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluates and identifies the needs of patients and their families to deliver high-quality care to assigned individuals.
- Collaborates with patients and their significant others to formulate, discuss, and communicate a feasible care plan addressing all identified needs.
- Exhibits the necessary skills and judgment to execute the medical care plan, nursing interventions, and procedures essential for patient care.
- Continuously assesses the identified issues, the care delivered, and the patients' responses to ensure that patient and family needs are met and that overall care quality is maintained.
- Performs all duties required by the specialized cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology laboratory division as outlined in the service scope, ensuring that the unique characteristics of each client are acknowledged.
- Keeps accurate and current documentation of nursing care provided to facilitate information integration for the healthcare team, ensuring quality care.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge, certification, and licensure while pursuing professional development and growth.
- Assists with additional tasks as assigned to support the operational requirements of the department and organization.
- May be required to remain on-site during severe weather conditions or emergencies.
Education Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Nursing or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required.
- 1-3 years of clinical nursing experience is required.
- Registered Nurse License in the State of Florida or eligible compact state is required upon hire.
- BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required upon hire.
- ACLS Provider (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required upon hire.
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIH) certification within 90 days is required.
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS_CCI) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES_CCI) or Certified Electrophysiology Specialist (CEPS) or CNOR (CNOR) or Acute/Critical Care Nursing (Adult) (ACCA_AACN) or Certified Emergency Nurse or Cardiac-Vascular Nursing (CVN_ANCC) certification within 18 months is required.
- Demonstrated clinical competence in critical care nursing, along with the necessary knowledge and skills.
