Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: In a role that requires minimal oversight, the Financial Operations Supervisor collaborates with the Corporate Controller to manage monthly accounting entries, reconciliations, and processes that ensure precise financial reporting across divisions and operational units.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees and mentors accounting personnel, organizes schedules and time off based on organizational requirements, and authorizes specific accounting entries. Provides guidance on accounts payable and receivable, and assists with inquiries as necessary.
  • Monitors the month-end closing checklist and follows up with team members to ensure all deadlines are achieved.
  • Handles state licensing and filings for all entities, ensuring timely payment and accurate reconciliation of gross receipt tax, sales, and use taxes. Conducts research as needed to maintain compliance with licensing and local, state, and federal tax regulations.
  • Collaborates with accounting teams across various locations to ensure adherence to GAAP standards. Conducts technical accounting research as directed by the Controller. Acts as the lead for financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with deadlines.
  • Serves as a backup to the Controller, capable of preparing financial statements, including monthly consolidated financial statements and individual subsidiary financial statements.
  • Reconciles assigned accounts, manages extensive spreadsheets, extracts data from accounting systems into Excel, and performs account analysis, bank reconciliations, and cash flow assessments. Maintains daily cash flow and reporting.
  • Tracks acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation of fixed assets.
  • Documents financial policies and procedures for Tikigaq Corporation and assists divisions and subsidiaries in creating their own financial documentation.
  • Supports both external and internal audits, as well as partnership accounting functions.
  • Assists with the preparation of 1099 forms and ensures their timely submission.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned or required.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, practices, and applications.
  • Familiarity with relevant federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations.
  • Understanding of cost accounting principles and strategic planning.
  • Proficiency in budget analysis techniques.
  • Ability to effectively manage and lead teams, delegating tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines.
  • Skill in analyzing financial matters and making sound recommendations based on findings.
  • Capability to prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands.
  • Expertise in evaluating accounting and internal control methods and financial reports.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues.
  • Proficient in using personal computers and various software applications.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

A Bachelor's Degree in Administration, Business, or Finance.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

A minimum of four (4) years of accounting experience, including two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Experience in federal government contract accounting is preferred. CPA or MBA credentials are also preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The demands of this position require the ability to lift approximately 20 pounds.
