POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision, perform computations, classifications, and documentation of numerical data to maintain comprehensive financial records. The duties outlined below are intended to provide a representative overview of the primary responsibilities and ARE NOT exhaustive of all tasks performed by employees in this role. Incumbents may not be required to execute all duties listed and may be tasked with additional, role-specific responsibilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilize accounting software on computers to document, store, and analyze financial information.
- Verify figures, postings, and documents for accuracy, ensuring correct entries and appropriate coding.
- Classify, document, and summarize numerical and financial data to maintain financial records through journals, ledgers, or computerized systems.
- Manage accounts through computer spreadsheets and databases, employing specialized accounting software for debits, credits, and totals.
- Operate calculators and copying machines to perform calculations and generate necessary documents.
- Receive, document, and deposit cash, checks, and vouchers accurately.
- Adhere to federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Compile reports and tables related to statistical, financial, accounting, or auditing matters, including cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, and profit and loss statements.
- Code documents in accordance with company procedures.
- Identify and report discrepancies found in records.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Familiarity with administrative and clerical processes, including word processing, file management, form design, and office terminology.
- Understanding of economic and accounting principles, financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
- Knowledge of customer service principles, including needs assessment, quality standards, and customer satisfaction evaluation.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
- Mathematical skills for problem-solving.
- Ability to manage personal and others' time effectively.
- Logical reasoning skills to assess strengths and weaknesses of various solutions and approaches.
- Capacity to comprehend the implications of new information for current and future decision-making.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Relevant professional experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two (2) years of professional experience in financial management, accounting, or related fields. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be considered.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Must be authorized to practice in applicable jurisdictions.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Experience in financial operations. Training or experience related to workplace wellness programs is highly desirable, along with experience in implementing systems changes in organizational settings.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift approximately 20 pounds as part of job responsibilities.
