We are currently in search of a Strategic Communications Specialist with a strong background in media relations and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate will possess excellent writing skills, organizational capabilities, and a keen attention to detail, which are crucial for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement strategic communication initiatives to highlight both new and existing services.
  • Engage in media relations activities, including conducting satellite and/or radio media tours and distributing public service announcements.
  • Lead outreach efforts to potential partners and stakeholders, creating relevant materials and conducting outreach via phone and email.
  • Oversee the procurement of materials for conferences and events.
  • Assess and manage the effectiveness of communication strategies by establishing and monitoring key performance indicators.
  • Support nationwide communication campaigns focused on Veterans.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proven experience in strategic communications and public relations, particularly in outreach or educational campaigns.
  • Ability to develop and produce various communication tools, including plans, press releases, scripts, and talking points.
  • Exceptional writing, conceptualization, and editing skills.
  • Strong analytical and creative thinking abilities.
  • Excellent oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Capability to effectively collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • A collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal skills, able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Adaptability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with federal government contractors, consulting firms, public relations or marketing agencies, or national associations.
  • Previous involvement in strategic communications initiatives at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs or its associated administrations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.

Compensation:

Salary will be commensurate with experience.
