Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Advanced Technology Program Manager to join our team at the City of Austin. As a key member of our organization, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our energy future by enabling data-driven decision making through the utilization of grid edge data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute comprehensive data strategies aligned with business goals
  • Oversee the architecture, integration, and availability of grid data stored across multiple platforms
  • Partner with Program Managers to define data requirements and align data strategies with program objectives
  • Lead a team of direct report and decentralized analysts, architects, and subject matter experts to drive innovation and instill a data-driven decision-making mindset
  • Identify opportunities to leverage data insights for process improvement
  • Establish and enforce grid data governance policies and procedures for the division
  • Partner with Data Stewards to maintain data integrity and quality
  • Establish data request pipelines and intake systems to develop and deliver upon short-medium-long term projects
  • Recommend data handling and storage solutions in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Participate in cross-functional utility/City data and technology governance teams
  • Present compelling data insights to executive leadership
Requirements
  • Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Business or Engineering related to the job, plus five (5) years of experience in a related field, two (2) years of which were in a program or project management capacity
  • Experience in a Program Manager role focused on data strategy and analytics, preferably in an electric utility environment
  • Experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, Data Analytics/Visualization Tools
  • Experience in Enterprise Architecture
  • Experience using programming/coding languages like R, Python, SQL, etc.
  • Experience with cloud-based data tools like Microsoft Azure, etc.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like PowerBI, Tableau, etc.
  • Experience presenting complex, technical content to a large, non-technical audience, including executive management
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in leading and directing personnel in a project and program capacity
  • Experience in determining needs and gathering, analyzing, and presenting data to provide accurate information for management's use
  • Experience in oral and written business and technical communication, including preparation of written reports
  • Experience in handling and prioritizing multiple tasks and planning and organizing a program
  • Experience in using computers and related software applications
  • Experience in data analysis and problem-solving
  • Experience in negotiations, program monitoring, and conflict resolution
  • Experience in conducting presentations on behalf of a public entity
  • Experience in projecting needs for equipment and personnel and formulating operating budgets
