Job Summary:

The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a highly qualified researcher to join the Department of Surgery/Division of General and Gastrointestinal Surgery. The successful candidate will have a PhD or MD/PhD degree and a strong background in basic science research. The position is open rank/track, and the academic rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities:
  • Conceptualize, plan, design, implement, and conduct research studies
  • Develop and write grant proposals to seek and obtain extramural funding to support research programs
  • Obtain and maintain NIH R01 or equivalent funding
  • Write and publish research in high-quality peer-reviewed scientific journals
  • Attend and make presentations of research at national and international scientific conferences
  • Instruct and mentor junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents, and fellow trainees
  • Participate in department, college, and university committees and initiatives
Requirements:
  • PhD or MD/PhD in an applicable field
  • Postdoctoral research experience in basic science research
  • Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in scientific, peer-reviewed journals
  • Current, active extramural grant funding (equivalent to NIH R01)
  • Academic experience a plus
  • Qualify for academic appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level
