Job Title: Research Faculty

We are seeking a highly qualified Research Faculty member to join our team at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center. The successful candidate will have a strong background in basic or translational science research, with a focus on colorectal cancer.

Position Overview

The Department of Surgery at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and the James Comprehensive Cancer Center are recruiting an open-rank faculty member with a research focus in colorectal cancer. The ideal candidate will have an established research program with a successful record of publications and extramural funding.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conceptualize, plan, design, implement, and conduct research studies
  • Develop and write grant proposals to seek and obtain extramural funding
  • Write and publish research in high-quality peer-reviewed scientific journals
  • Attend and make presentations of research at national and international scientific conferences
  • Instruct and mentor junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents, and fellow trainees
Requirements
  • PhD or MD/PhD in an applicable field
  • Postdoctoral research experience in basic science research
  • Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in scientific, peer-reviewed journals
  • Current, active extramural grant funding (equivalent to NIH R01)
  • Academic experience a plus

The Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Ohio State is recognized for our patient care related to diseases and cancer of the colon and rectum. We have earned a procedure rating of "high performing" for Colon Cancer Surgery by U.S. News & World Report.
