About the Role:

Astrolab is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Avionics Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing state-of-the-art avionics systems for lunar surface exploration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Design electronic hardware focused on space avionics launch vehicle applications, develop avionics assembly designs primarily focused on control and monitoring of spacecraft systems, and develop hardware designs and interface specifications.
  • Integration and Testing: Interface with other engineers to ensure seamless subsystem integration of mechanical, electrical, and software systems, develop test plans/procedures, and support the execution of test events.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Lead Root Cause/Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations and resolutions, work with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of products, and demonstrate the ability to work well both independently and within a team environment.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, or mathematics).
  • Experience: 5+ years' of experience in spacecraft systems design and/or avionics component design (academic and personal projects apply).
  • Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate of Science degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, experience in one or more of: analog/digital circuits, embedded firmware, Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), serial and parallel communication protocols, Ethernet, Spacewire, RS-422, and other communication protocols, and experience in avionics screening techniques and standards, including shock, vibe, thermal, and radiation.
  • Skills: Good communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
