Job Overview

In the role of Membership and Events Specialist, you will manage the daily operations of our membership program, which includes sales, communications, member-focused events, data management, and customer support.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the marketing and sales initiatives for memberships, both in-person and online.
  2. Handle financial transactions related to membership sales and ensure accurate data entry into the membership database.
  3. Prepare and distribute membership cards and relevant information to new members.
  4. Conduct outreach to new, renewing, and lapsed members through phone calls and mailings.
  5. Gain comprehensive knowledge of the museum's offerings to effectively communicate with members and foster relationships.
  6. Implement membership sales and renewal strategies as directed, including crafting renewal communications and engaging potential members.
  7. Manage the membership benefits program, exploring new opportunities to enhance member offerings and maintaining vendor relationships.
  8. Research and benchmark against other children's museums to develop effective membership growth and retention strategies.
  9. Update and maintain membership materials, including forms and informational packets.
  10. Collaborate with the Director of Membership and Events to plan and execute member events.
  11. Monitor and track purchases of membership gift certificates.
  12. Provide database support for in-kind and corporate donations, ensuring accurate record-keeping of benefits.
  13. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Strong team player with a focus on customer service and sales.
  • Proficient in computer and database management, with a preference for Salesforce experience.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong business acumen.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Possess an energetic and professional demeanor.

Education and Experience

A High School Diploma is required, along with 1-2 years of experience in customer service.


Work Environment

This position requires weekend availability and may involve some holiday work. The role includes working in both a museum setting and an office environment, with a high noise level. Remote work is possible for up to 20% of the time.


Physical Requirements

The role involves standing and walking for extended periods and may require lifting supplies.
