POSITION SUMMARY

The role involves the preparation and coordination of comprehensive estimates for large-scale and intricate construction projects, ensuring the delivery of accurate conceptual and total bid pricing.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, potential customers, and suppliers.
  • Analyze bid notices and requests with the estimating team to identify optimal opportunities for the organization.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and field assessments.
  • Ensure estimates are completed promptly by understanding bid deadlines and submission methods.
  • Examine construction documents to comprehend the scope of work for accurate take-offs. Input take-offs into spreadsheets and estimating software.
  • Draft scope letters and review estimates for completeness and accuracy before submission.
  • Distribute bid documents and gather pricing information from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Conduct cost analysis for materials, labor, equipment, subcontractor services, and overhead.
  • Review contracts and purchase orders for alignment with estimates.
  • Notify the Chief Estimator of any discrepancies in quoted items or database entries.
  • Organize project turnover meetings and bid review sessions.
  • Assist project managers with job setup and preliminary forms.
  • Develop and maintain resource information on products, suppliers, subcontractors, and regulatory requirements.
  • Attend departmental meetings and seek educational opportunities regularly.
  • Identify bidders and competition for projects.
  • Recognize safety considerations for projects and incorporate them into proposals.
  • Maintain communication with operations to ensure adequate manpower if projects are awarded.
  • Oversee and mentor Junior Estimators.
