Role Summary:

The Senior Vice President of Credit Oversight is tasked with spearheading the independent Credit Review function within the organization. This role ensures adherence to the Credit Review Policy, orchestrates the annual Credit Review Plan, and supervises both internal staff and external co-source partners to fulfill scheduled evaluations. The Director is responsible for overseeing comprehensive assessments of the credit portfolio and implementing a continuous credit review monitoring system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the execution of the Credit Review Policy and associated standards that underpin the Credit Review methodology.
  • Formulate a Credit Review Risk Assessment addressing the bank's credit and operational risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Design and implement an annual Credit Review Plan for thorough portfolio evaluations to assess asset quality and management efficiency.
  • Collaborate in the development and management of the financial budget.
  • Oversee the selection and performance of third-party co-source firms, ensuring compliance with service agreements.
  • Direct Credit Review services provided by internal teams and external partners, ensuring staff proficiency in conducting portfolio evaluations.
  • Validate the accuracy and timeliness of asset quality risk ratings and ensure compliance with portfolio management standards.
  • Generate credit risk findings, identify root causes of discrepancies, and secure corrective action commitments from management.
  • Prepare comprehensive Credit Review reports and communicate findings to executive management and the Board's Risk Committee.
  • Maintain compliance with SOX processes and controls.
  • Engage in due diligence reviews for portfolio acquisitions.
  • Support regulatory examinations and internal audits.
  • Manage and mentor internal staff, overseeing daily operations and performance evaluations.
  • Provide credit risk advisory services to lending management, recommending process improvements.
  • Uphold organizational values and promote a respectful and diverse workplace.
  • Ensure adherence to occupational safety standards and report any unsafe conditions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of management and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and project management capabilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of banking regulations and accounting principles.
  • Proficient in addressing complex problems with multiple variables.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and make balanced decisions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • In-depth understanding of lending compliance regulations.
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in credit risk management or related fields.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or a related discipline.
  • Preferred completion of a Credit Risk Certification or similar program.
  • Experience with credit databases for analytical purposes is advantageous.
