We are seeking a Lead Project Controls Specialist to oversee the implementation of robust project control systems, including estimating, planning, and cost management, to effectively forecast and track project expenditures for our underground initiatives.

This professional role involves leveraging technical expertise to address complex challenges and propose effective solutions, contributing to enhancements in processes. This is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate leadership as a subject matter expert, implement best practices, collaborate within a team environment, and guide cross-functional teams.

Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, you will work within a collaborative framework to:

  • Develop, maintain, and present project forecasts and related control data.
  • Identify opportunities for optimizing project control workflows.
  • Facilitate the establishment of project control accounts and budgetary frameworks.
  • Oversee the generation and distribution of cost reports, including cost control metrics.
  • Manage the formulation of contingency and change management protocols.
  • Ensure the effective execution of contingency and change management processes.
  • Implement project progress measurement methodologies.
  • Coordinate the creation of Final Forecast Cost (FFC) and proactively identify risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure adherence to standardized processes, systems, and tools.
  • Maintain relationships with project control stakeholders and contracting partners.
  • Collaborate with procurement and estimating teams to ensure trend accuracy.
  • Conduct thorough analyses and report on budget and cost discrepancies.
  • Provide technical assistance to project stakeholders.
  • Utilize established guidelines for project controls within the capital projects framework.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, you will possess:

  • A strong commitment to safety for yourself and your colleagues.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience, ideally in underground metal mining.
  • Proven skills in cost management, along with a solid understanding of planning, scheduling, estimation, and risk management within a project management context.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with all stakeholders and contractors.
  • Capability to navigate challenging environments while maintaining effective time management.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills, with excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, fostering strong relationships within teams.

Preferred Skills

It would be advantageous if you have:

  • Experience in underground mining operations.
  • Familiarity with cost management systems.
  • Proficiency in software applications (Excel, Word, SAP, etc.).
