Key Responsibilities

  • Lead project design initiatives across diverse projects while managing both internal and external teams.
  • Engage with stakeholders to establish project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Create detailed project plans, timelines, and budget estimates.
  • Oversee construction activities and ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Facilitate plant commissioning processes.
  • Apply relevant codes and standards in project execution.
  • Review submissions for adherence to plans and specifications.
  • Maintain project logs, track outstanding submissions, and develop schedules based on thorough specification reviews.
  • Stay updated on construction drawings and as-built documentation.
  • Possess knowledge of instrumentation and processes involving flammable and combustible materials.
  • Understand Process Safety Management (PSM) and environmental regulations.
  • Manage project elements including bid package development, drawing reviews, contractor oversight, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Define individual project requirements based on corporate objectives and potential cost efficiencies.
  • Execute process engineering tasks related to capital projects and ongoing plant enhancements.
  • Direct activities to ensure that construction and operational testing meet functional specifications and standards.
  • Supervise the preparation and review of bid analyses and procurement recommendations.
  • Specify materials and equipment for acquisition, drafting necessary specifications.
  • Identify and justify new equipment to enhance manufacturing processes.
  • Request and review proposals and contract modifications from subcontractors.
  • Monitor project engineering progress against approved timelines and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure comprehensive Technical Risk Assessments are conducted and that safety practices are upheld.
  • Collaborate with project teams to enforce safety standards and maintain a secure working environment.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in managing capital projects within chemical processing.
  • Proven experience in capital project engineering, including bid management, scope definition, risk assessment, budgeting, scheduling, execution, and project closure.
  • Strong understanding of project engineering processes and industry standards.
  • Familiarity with operational practices and economic considerations in engineering.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry codes and design criteria.
  • Experience with non-engineering functions such as project controls and construction management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects effectively.
