Nurse Residency Program: Labor and Delivery Track

The ChristianaCare Nurse Residency Program is a comprehensive training program designed to provide new nurses with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the Labor and Delivery unit.
The program is a 26-week program that integrates educational components with preceptor-led clinical experiences in 4 areas of the Labor & Delivery unit: Labor & Delivery, Peri Op, OB High Risk, and Antenatal.
Upon successful program completion, participants will be hired as a staff nurse within the Labor and Delivery unit at ChristianaCare.
Requirements for the program include graduating from an accredited nursing school before June 2025, BLS certification, less than 12 months of experience from the program's start date, and Delaware or Compact State licensure as a Registered Nurse.
To apply, submit a cover letter expressing interest in the Labor and Delivery Nurse Residency, a resume, and an unofficial transcript.
Applicants will be required to complete a video interview and provide clinical references.
The program is accredited with distinction as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs.
ChristianaCare Nurse Residency Program is recognized by the ANCC Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP) as an Industry-Recognized Apprenticeship Programs (IRAP).
The program is designed to provide a smooth transition into the L&D RN role for those candidates who qualify.
Upon hire, a commitment agreement to work at ChristianaCare will be signed, requiring completion of two years within ChristianaCare and 15 months of those two years on the unit of hire.
Individuals unable to fill this commitment will be charged $10,000.
