About the Role

First National Bank Alaska is seeking a highly skilled Mortgage Loan Originator II/III to join our team. As a key member of our mortgage lending team, you will be responsible for originating mortgage loans, analyzing financial information, and determining the most appropriate loan program for our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Sales and Origination: Sell mortgage loan products to existing and prospective customers by interviewing, evaluating needs, and making mortgage loan product recommendations.
  2. Business Development: Develop additional business and referral base through outside sales, mailings to existing and potential customers, attending industry functions, and participating in community outreach programs.
  3. Complex Loan Origination: Originate complex mortgage loans under direct guidance of the Unit Head, developing in-depth knowledge of the most complex mortgage products, to identify cross-selling opportunities, and make referrals to other areas of the bank.
  4. Regulatory Compliance: Prepare required preliminary disclosures that comply with federal and industry regulations for supervisory review prior to dissemination.
  5. Other Duties: Perform other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements

Education and/or Experience

MLO II - Minimum: Five years relationship-building sales experience. Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or related field may be substituted for two years of experience.

MLO III - Minimum: Two years sales experience in Real Estate or Mortgage. Bachelor's degree in business management, accounting, finance, marketing, or related field and two years' mortgage originating, processing, real estate sales, lending, or related experience; or four years business or banking experience including two years mortgage originating, processing, real estate sales, lending, or related experience; or equivalent combination of education/training and experience.

Skills and Abilities

Ability to keyboard 35 wpm and operate a 10-key calculator required. Word processing and spreadsheet experience preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as charges, payoffs, discounts, interest, percentages and ratios.

Reasoning Skills

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving variable in standardized situations.
