Position Overview

This role is integral to client service, collaborating closely with Senior Associates, the Grants Manager, and the Vice President to address the needs of a broad client base in grant writing and funding advocacy. Responsibilities encompass daily management of both immediate and long-term client projects, formulating strategies to meet funding objectives, and actively seeking new opportunities. The individual in this position will oversee their client portfolio, provide expertise in funding policy, and contribute to business development efforts. Registration as a State and Federal lobbyist is a requirement for this role.

Key Responsibilities

1. Client Management

  • Proactively develop and manage client funding agendas and initiatives.
  • Research and inform clients about potential funding opportunities through innovative solutions.
  • Design and implement tailored funding strategies for clients, identifying key opportunities and priority projects.
  • Manage a diverse client portfolio, ensuring responsiveness to client requests and objectives.
  • Maintain proactive communication and follow-up on all client matters.
  • Leverage team resources to further client goals.
  • Anticipate and capitalize on unique client service opportunities beyond traditional advocacy.

2. Grant Writing and Research

  • Oversee client funding initiatives, mastering key state and federal funding opportunities.
  • Develop strategic funding agendas aligned with client priorities.
  • Draft, submit, and follow up on funding applications.
  • Execute advocacy efforts related to grant writing.

3. Funding Advocacy

  • Understand legislative spending requirements at state and federal levels.
  • Collaborate with team members to assist clients in securing funding from government budgets.
  • Build relationships with key decision-makers to advocate for client projects.

4. Policy Area Expertise

  • Develop expertise in funding programs applicable to various clients.
  • Support client managers as a policy area expert for inquiries and guidance.
  • Establish external recognition for marketing and advocacy as a policy expert.

5. Business Development

  • Identify and target prospective opportunities for growth.
  • Contribute to the firm’s sales strategy and represent the firm at networking events.
  • Participate actively in the RFP process as part of the client service team.
  • Communicate effectively about grant writing and funding services during business development efforts.
  • Conduct outreach to host workshops on grant opportunities.
  • Create customized grant matrices for potential clients.
