Position Overview
The Alternatives Funds at PIMCO encompass approximately $150+ billion across various strategies and vehicle types, including hedge funds and private equity.

The Alternatives Funds Finance Team is responsible for comprehensive financial accounting and control, tax structuring and compliance, operations, and oversight of investment partners and third-party service providers.

This team collaborates closely with Product Management, Account Management, and Portfolio Management groups and reports directly to the Executive Office.

We are seeking a dynamic professional with substantial experience in investment company and/or alternative asset accounting to join our Financial Control Team. This role will focus on the finance and accounting of illiquid investment activities across our Private Equity and Hedge Funds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the investment closing process for illiquid assets, emphasizing finance, treasury, accounting, and reporting functions.
  • Engage in effective collaboration and communication with various partners, including portfolio management, tax, and legal professionals, alongside the fund controller, operations team, and administrator.
  • Oversee and maintain illiquid investments for financial accounting and reporting, addressing complex security accounting, income recognition, valuation, and performance.
  • Work with tax and legal teams to assist in designing and establishing investment structures for private equity, real estate, and other illiquid investments.
  • Communicate proactively with the fund accounting administrator and other partners to identify and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Lead the structured financing waterfall process, coordinating among asset and financing portfolio management teams, financing counterparties, agent banks, and fund administrators.
  • Manage fund treasury and project future fund cash flows for liquidity management, including capital calls and distributions.
  • Contribute to the quarterly close process for specific Alternative Funds with exposure to both public and private investments across various asset classes.
  • Assist in preparing financial information for key client deliverables, including investor reports and annual audited financial statements.
  • Support the management and oversight of the funds' administrator through SLAs and critical metrics.
  • Contribute to external audits, regulatory reporting, and other compliance requirements.
  • Utilize internal and external resources to respond to client inquiries in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Lead coordination and project management for various initiatives within the Alternative Funds Finance team.

Position Requirements
We are looking for candidates with a target range of 3-4 years of experience in financial accounting, audit, or finance functions for an alternative investment manager, particularly with exposure to credit, real estate, private equity funds, or hedge funds.

Essential qualifications include:

  • Ability to implement accounting and reporting for diverse investment structures.
  • Desire to understand transaction process flows and develop solutions for complexities.
  • Familiarity with private equity and hedge fund structures.
  • Experience with external audit processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, including US GAAP and Investment Company Accounting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Active or desired CPA license.

PIMCO follows a comprehensive compensation approach that includes a base salary and discretionary bonuses based on performance. The base salary reflects core job responsibilities, relevant experience, internal level, and market factors.

Salary Range: $94,000 - $124,000
