Position Overview
This role is centered on client service, collaborating closely with Senior Associates, the Grants Manager, and the Vice President to support a broad and diverse client portfolio in grant writing and funding advocacy. Responsibilities encompass daily management of both immediate and long-term client projects, formulating strategies to meet funding objectives, and actively seeking new funding opportunities. The role necessitates comprehensive oversight of individual client accounts, expertise in funding policy across the firm, and robust support for business development initiatives. Additionally, the position requires registration as a State and Federal lobbyist.
Key Responsibilities
1. Client Management
- Proactively develop, manage, and execute clients' funding agendas and initiatives.
- Identify, research, and inform clients about potential funding opportunities through innovative and traditional methods.
- Design and implement tailored funding strategies for clients, focusing on priority projects and initiatives.
- Manage a diverse client portfolio effectively, adjusting to the varying needs and agendas of each client.
- Respond promptly to client inquiries and objectives, ensuring a turnaround within 24-48 hours.
- Follow up diligently on all client matters to ensure nothing is overlooked.
- Leverage team resources to further client objectives.
- Anticipate and capitalize on unique client service opportunities that extend beyond conventional advocacy or grant writing.
2. Grant Writing and Research
- Oversee client funding initiatives, ensuring mastery of key state and federal funding opportunities.
- Develop strategic funding agendas aligned with individual client priorities.
- Draft, submit, and follow up on all funding applications.
- Execute advocacy efforts related to grant writing.
3. Funding Advocacy
- Gain insight into state and federal legislative funding requirements.
- Collaborate with team members to assist clients in securing state and federal funding.
- Build relationships with key decision-makers in legislative and agency offices to advocate for client projects.
4. Policy Area Expertise
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of funding programs applicable across various client needs.
- Serve as a recognized policy area expert within the firm, providing guidance to client managers.
- Begin to establish external recognition for marketing and advocacy as a policy expert.
5. Business Development
- Identify and target prospective opportunities for business growth.
- Contribute to the firm’s sales strategy and representation at networking events.
- Participate actively in the RFP process as part of the client service team.
- Communicate effectively the grant writing and funding services offered by the firm.
- Engage in outreach to organize workshops on grant opportunities.
- Create customized grant matrices for potential clients.
