About the Role

The Business Risk Officer is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Recognized technical authority for an area within the business. Requires basic commercial awareness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze existing control reports and develop Python solutions increasing efficiency and reducing risk of human error.
  • Resolve arising issues culminating from data sources and further enhance existing Python solutions as required.
  • Support various ad hoc data requests utilizing innovative Python data transformation techniques.
  • Employ sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives to make refined judgements and sound solutions.
  • Resolve occasionally complex and highly variable issues.
  • Apply ingenuity and creativity to problem analysis and resolution in both complicated and novel contexts.
  • Adapt latest trends in Data Science/Data Mining/Big Data field for application within role and the business.
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Establishes quarterly audit process of attributes to ensure proper calculation and control.
  • Works closely with business partners on findings and makes recommendations on improving practices.
  • Develops procedural implementation and change management process with Operations and Reporting team to ensure proper governance and controls exist.
  • Examines procedures for consistency and gaps relative to regulations in addition to impacts on customer experience.
  • Conducts internal testing of dispute processes to ensure control.
  • Leverages data to examine impacts to Customer Experience and Regulatory breaks.
  • Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
  • Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
  • Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and/or other team members.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Requirements:

  • Years of experience in working with various data teams and Business Risk & Controls.
  • MS Excel, MS Access, SAS, SQL, Visual Basic, Advanced Python is required.
  • Data driven, high level of attention to detail required.
  • Detailed understanding of latest data technologies and solutions towards how they can help solve for next generation business needs.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python and comprehensive knowledge with its libraries.
  • Extensive experience working in a Jupyter Lab environment.
  • Strong proficiency in utilizing Git for efficient code repository management, version control, and collaboration within team environments.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office suite applications.
  • Background in Tableau for creating interactive visualizations and dashboards to analyze and present complex data effectively.
  • Ability to meet deadlines for product deliverables in a timely, proactive, and entrepreneurial manner.
  • Effective organizational influencing skills required.
  • Third party vendor management preferred. Demonstrated ability to lead global team efforts.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Ability to see the big pictures with high attention to critical details.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategy and process improvement initiatives.

Education:

  • Bachelors/University degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience, potentially Masters degree.
