About the Role

The State of New Mexico is seeking a highly skilled Grants Accountant and Auditor to join our team. As a key member of our Finance Bureau, you will play a critical role in managing financial resources effectively and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process grant reconciliations, draw downs, and closeouts for disaster and non-disaster grants awarded to our agency.
  • Gather and compile necessary data and information from various sources to ensure comprehensive and complete reports.
  • Monitor grant revenue and expenditures closely, ensuring accurate coding and compliance with grant requirements.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations for each assigned grant and enter adjusting journal entries in SHARE, as needed.
  • Maintain, record, monitor, analyze, and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all financial reporting related to accounts receivable, in accordance with established guidelines.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or Business Administration.
  • Two (2) years directly related work experience in accounting, auditing, finance, and/or budgeting.

  • Master's degree or higher in the field(s) specified in the minimum qualification AND 0 years of experience.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending, and reaching may be required.

Employment Requirements
  • Employment is subject to background investigation and is conditional pending results.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
  • Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
