This position is a critical component of the State of New Mexico's Office of Inspector General, a bureau dedicated to ensuring the Department's activities and operations comply with federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and policies.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct independent performance audits of transportation programs and operations to improve effectiveness and efficiencies, and increase accountability.
- Determine indirect cost rate compliance and contract eligibility for engineering and design consultants.
- Perform strategic planning, extensive research, interviewing, and gathering evidence.
- Analyze information, data, and control systems to identify anomalies, deficiencies, and risks.
- Write detailed audit reports on findings and recommendations.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or Business Administration.
- Two years of directly related work experience in accounting, auditing, finance, and/or budgeting.
- Intermediate or advanced level experience in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Excellent writing and verbal skills.
Office setting with some state travel, exposure to VDT, and extensive personal computer use.
