POSITION SUMMARY:


As a Telecommunications Installation Specialist at TM3 Solutions Inc, you will play a crucial role in the provisioning, installation, design, termination, testing, documentation, operations, and maintenance of various types of IT cabling.


Your responsibilities will encompass both fiber optic and copper cabling, ranging from single-strand/pair to large bulk cables utilized in the infrastructure backbone, underground, outdoor, and horizontal cabling extending to desktop or equipment racks.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead a team in executing cable installations for building setups or equipment racking.
  • Develop cable run lists and schematics to ensure effective service connections.
  • Install cabling from transport/wiring closets to customer access points.
  • Execute cabling installations both under floors and above ceilings using trays, troughs, wiring baskets, harnesses, and J hooks.
  • Contribute to the design of cable transmission media, machine rooms, transport closets, and points-of-presence.
  • Field terminate cabling using various connector techniques.
  • Install backbone/vertical, underground, and outdoor cabling systems.
  • Conduct field testing of cabling to meet performance specifications.
  • Provide comprehensive cable labeling and configuration documentation.
  • Implement effective cable management practices.
  • Successfully terminate various types of fiber optic connectors.
  • Interpret and execute drawings, plans, and specifications accurately.
  • Test and troubleshoot copper installations proficiently.
  • Engage in discussions regarding media selection and its implications for network implementation.
  • Offer recommendations based on relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Interpret job plans and scopes of work, including retrofits and upgrades for existing infrastructure.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of technical experience in IT cable installation and termination.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide team leadership, engineering, and design expertise to meet technical specifications.
  • Extensive knowledge of termination equipment, methodologies, and splicing techniques.
  • Physical capability to lift 50 pounds, along with expertise in cable termination, testing, cable rack preparation, layout, installation, and documentation.
  • A valid BICSI Installer 2, Copper or Installer 2, Optical Fiber certification is required, or three additional years of experience may substitute for certification.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:

  • BICSI certification is mandatory.
