Position Overview

The Field Service Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining and repairing various solar and battery energy systems within a designated geographic area. This position primarily focuses on solar installations, providing an excellent opportunity for those who enjoy outdoor work, travel, and independent tasks. Daily travel to different job sites is expected, and personal vehicle reimbursement is provided for work-related use.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to service requests from dispatch to address solar and battery equipment issues, with training and support available to enhance your skills.
  • Conduct testing and analysis to diagnose and repair problems in inverters and monitoring systems, as well as other components of commercial and utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage facilities.
  • Perform routine testing and troubleshooting tasks that may be moderately complex.
  • Utilize and maintain test equipment and tools for calibration and repairs, including meters and torque wrenches.
  • Document all fieldwork using digital devices and software, ensuring detailed reports of diagnostics and communications are maintained.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, including time sheets and service orders, and manage inventory and equipment shipping for warranty claims.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including your work vehicle and tools.

Physical Requirements

  • This role involves physical demands, often requiring work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.
  • Availability for both weekday and weekend shifts, including potential on-call duties, is necessary.
  • Participation in the Fitness for Duty Program, which includes physical examinations and drug screenings, is required.

Compensation

The starting compensation for this position is competitive, beginning at $35.00 per hour.

Candidate Profile

  • A willingness to learn and collaborate with team members is essential. Previous experience in the solar industry is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong self-sufficiency and travel skills are necessary.
  • Enthusiasm for outdoor work and adaptability to changing weather conditions are preferred.
  • Reliability and flexibility in meeting schedule commitments are crucial.
  • Positive attitude and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are important.
  • Ability to document work thoroughly and submit detailed reports daily is required.
  • Critical thinking skills for real-time problem-solving are essential.
  • A valid motor vehicle operator's license and a clean driving record are mandatory.

Desired Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of power and electrical systems.
  • Experience with medium to high voltage systems.
  • Familiarity with data and communications systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 360 applications.
  • Certification to operate equipment such as scissor lifts and forklifts is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other technicians and subcontractors to resolve field issues.
  • Experience mentoring junior personnel is advantageous.
  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand and power tools are preferred.
