Role Overview:
The Senior Commercial Solar Estimator will oversee and support the design and proposal processes for multifamily and commercial solar initiatives across the region. This position involves managing projects that vary in scale from 20kW to 51MW, primarily focusing on new construction. Key responsibilities include developing comprehensive solar and storage estimates, crafting budgets and proposals, and efficiently managing a diverse project pipeline.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Design: Design and size solar systems utilizing Helioscope in accordance with usage and regulatory requirements.
- Material Estimation: Conduct detailed and itemized estimates of solar materials from various project plans.
- System Sizing: Identify the appropriate solar system type, interconnection, and sizing parameters.
- Proposal Preparation: Generate quotations and proposals based on architectural schematics.
- Administrative Duties: Manage clerical tasks related to project documentation and filing.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Analyze and interpret construction blueprints, drawings, and specifications to prepare accurate estimates.
- Data Calculation: Collect and compute take-off data using digital tools.
- Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain relationships with the sales team.
- Budget Development: Create preliminary and final project budgets based on bidding proposals.
- Estimate Precision: Ensure estimates are comprehensive and facilitate construction processes by field operations.
- Bid Management: Monitor and track bid schedules.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma required; college degree or some college experience preferred.
- Experience: 2-3 years in solar or electrical sectors.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with Helioscope and Energy Toolbase.
- Estimating Background: Experience in estimating construction or architectural components.
- Blueprint Skills: Proficient in reading construction drawings and specifications.
- Project Familiarity: Knowledge of new construction and retrofit commercial PV and battery projects.
- Design Expertise: Understanding of solar design, building codes, and regulatory requirements for commercial and residential PV systems.
- Specialized Knowledge: Experience with commercial batteries, VNEM, ground mounts, and solar carports.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
