Job Summary:

The Tooling Manager is responsible for leading the design team, managing tool orders, and ensuring timely completion of tooling designs, builds, reworks, and cleanings. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the design team, including personnel, design schedule, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate tool orders in the Hitchiner enterprise system (IQMS) and ensure timely completion of tooling designs, builds, reworks, and cleanings.
  • Attend daily plant GEMBA meetings and planning meetings to prioritize organizational needs and maintain tool room equipment.
  • Manage tool room equipment, focusing on safety, and understand equipment capacity, capabilities, and constraints.
  • Provide technical support for efficient troubleshooting and problem-solving activities and tooling repair.
  • Align outside vendors to support tooling needs and ensure timely delivery.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews, assign goals and objectives, and maintain department costs within budget.
  • Streamline tooling department flow, balance insource and outsource, and update monthly metrics to performance.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.
  • Ensure all activities and operations are performed in compliance with the Company's Code of Conduct.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in a technical or business-related discipline and 5-7 years of related tooling experience.
  • Previous experience with tool design and management of outside vendors.
  • Previous experience working in the investment castings industry.
  • Previous experience working in a supervisory or management role.
  • Previous experience working with design software (Solidworks) is preferred.
