Primary Responsibilities

• Execute wiring tasks throughout the cab unit and underframe;

• Measure, cut, and attach wires to specified lengths;

• Assess the continuity of wires and cables;

• Fit, assemble, connect, and install system components;

• Employ stripping and crimping tools, voltmeters, jigs, measurement instruments, and both hand and power tools;

• Align major components accurately;

• Support welders with preparation, repair, and removal of weld spatter;

• Prepare locomotives for painting;

• Utilize computers to access instructional materials.

Essential and Physical Requirements

• Strength - Capable of lifting and carrying up to 35 lbs, pushing and pulling up to 50 lbs;

• Motion - Frequent walking, sustained bending, crouching, kneeling, squatting, and overhead reaching;

• Vision/Hearing - Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and respond to audible alarms;

• Work Environment - Operate on various surfaces, including concrete and gravel, and at different heights. Work in confined spaces and in non-temperature-controlled environments with high noise and dust levels;

• Emotional Resilience - Comfortable working independently in a challenging environment;

• Safety - This role is safety-sensitive, requiring adherence to all safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications and Skills

• Proficient in reading and interpreting schematics, wire running lists, and blueprints;

• Skilled in using various hand and power tools and measuring devices;

• Familiar with operating in a Windows environment to retrieve assembly instructions;

• Committed to safety and quality;

• Focused on continuous improvement.
