KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Field Service Technician, you will provide expert assistance to customers utilizing Muncie Power products. Your role will involve delivering both verbal and hands-on technical support to Muncie Power personnel and product users. Additionally, you will be responsible for training and troubleshooting for end users.

  • Employ your technical and mechanical expertise to diagnose and repair core line products and associated components, focusing primarily on power take-offs, hydraulic pumps, valves, cylinders, and related fittings.
  • Assist in the evaluation and testing of hydraulic systems.
  • Collaborate across departments to deliver on-site technical assistance.
  • Oversee the installation of Muncie Power products, conduct system tests, make necessary adjustments, and resolve product issues for current and potential customers.
  • Support the outside sales team with technical knowledge as needed.
  • Provide training to customers and end users on the correct installation and operation of Muncie Power products.
  • Participate in product testing and validation efforts.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of field service activities and log calls into the service tracking system.
  • Assist the warranty team with product analysis and offer insights into potential product failure modes.
  • Communicate recurring product issues to the engineering team and suppliers as necessary.
  • Upload software updates to electro-hydraulic controllers as required.
  • Travel as necessary; anticipate approximately 30% in-office work and 70% travel.
  • Support product application specialists with troubleshooting inquiries when in the office.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • Experience in technical, mechanical, and hydraulic fields is preferred.
  • An applicable technical degree is preferred.
  • IFPS Hydraulic Specialist/Technician/Mechanic Certification is preferred.
  • Familiarity with fluid power principles is essential.
  • Knowledge of electro-hydraulic systems and related components is necessary.
  • Ability to service hydraulic equipment and components is required.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical documentation, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy.
  • Experience with test instrumentation (data acquisition, multimeters, oscilloscopes, flow meters, vacuum gauges, etc.) is beneficial.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel are necessary.
  • Experience with 2D CAD/3D modeling software is advantageous.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols, maintenance instructions, and service manuals.
  • Capable of writing detailed field service reports.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.
