Role Summary

The Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in executing maintenance tasks to construct, repair, and maintain all machinery in optimal working order efficiently and effectively, while managing associated costs to align with plant objectives. This position requires a multi-skilled individual capable of engaging in various maintenance activities across different trades. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role is vital to our operational success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute projects with minimal supervision, demonstrating a proactive approach to reducing equipment downtime and enhancing production efficiency.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical systems. Disassemble and inspect devices to replace faulty components.
  • Set up and operate shop equipment, including drill presses, grinders, band saws, and welding tools. Utilize hand and pneumatic tools for modifications and repairs.
  • Install, repair, or modify electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems as required.
  • Enhance the reliability and operational uptime of all manufacturing and facility equipment, adopting a preventive maintenance mindset.
  • Operate forklifts and aerial lift platforms as necessary.
  • Research and procure supplies, parts, and tools essential for completing work orders efficiently.
  • Assist in maintaining an accurate inventory of parts through effective use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Contribute to the maintenance of records, logs, documents, manuals, and schematics.
  • Uphold the vision, mission, and core values of the organization.
  • Adhere to all applicable safety, health, and environmental regulations while performing job functions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the maintenance department.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Skills Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office, Windows, and CMMS.
  • Ability to safely operate a variety of tools, including hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, including gearboxes, motors, air compressors, and troubleshooting AC and DC drives.
  • Ability to interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics for troubleshooting and planning.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding written and verbal instructions in English, including safety protocols and operational manuals.
  • Effective written communication skills for correspondence and documentation.
  • Ability to implement and uphold company guidelines and procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills and the capability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Results-driven with mathematical skills for calculations involving weight, volume, and distance.
  • Manual dexterity to operate various tools and equipment safely.
  • Extensive experience in industrial electrical systems, including PLC troubleshooting and repair, and working with three-phase motors.
  • Experience in plastics processing is advantageous.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, electrical, mechanical, or a related field, or a combination of education and experience deemed equivalent.

Certifications:

  • Relevant craft certifications or licenses are a plus.
  • Technical education is advantageous.
