Director of Development

At the University of Southern California, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Development to join our team. As a key member of our External Relations department, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of major gift relationships within an assigned geographic region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and identify potential major gift donors to support the USC Marshall School of Business
- Develop and execute sophisticated solicitation strategies for major gift prospects
- Manage a portfolio of major gift relationships and meet or exceed assigned annual and monthly goals
- Collaborate with academic leadership and other gift officers to cultivate and steward donors
- Prepare well-written correspondence, visit briefings, and solicitation proposals
Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in major gifts development for a school, hospital, or similar institution
- Demonstrated persistency and ability to cultivate and close on major gifts
- Exceptional active listening skills and ability to draw out interests, motivations, and objections
- Strategic and conceptual thinker with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree
- Knowledge of complex academic institutions and experience staffing academic leaders in development work
