The UCLA Library is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Development to lead our major gifts fundraising efforts. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for planning and implementing a proactive major gift program that supports the UCLA Library's integral programs and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors
- Plan and implement special events and solicitations
- Conceptualize and execute sophisticated strategies for major gift solicitations
- Collaborate with academic leaders, faculty, and development staff to achieve fundraising goals
- Recruit, orient, train, and evaluate staff and volunteers who support development goals and programs
Requirements:
- Minimum of three years of fundraising experience and/or prior professional experience in a related field
- Experience conceptualizing, planning, and implementing special events
- Strong documented record of gifts solicited and closed in the annual, special, and/or major gifts range
- Working knowledge of the principles and practices of fundraising in a university setting
- Proven skills in developing sophisticated strategies for major gift solicitations
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work harmoniously with volunteers, academic leaders, faculty, and development staff
- Ability to establish priorities, manage multiple tasks, and complete work under tight deadlines
- Excellent written and communication skills, with the ability to produce business correspondence, solicitation materials, and reports
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations:
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
Special Conditions for Employment:
- Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation
- Ability to work some weekends and/or evenings as needed
- Ability to travel as needed
Salary & Compensation:
UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure, and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common.
