Job Summary
The University of California Los Angeles seeks a highly skilled and experienced Director of Development to join our team. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for planning and implementing a strong, proactive major gift program that supports the integral programs and initiatives of the UCLA Library.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, leadership, and faculty to plan and implement fundraising strategies
- Conceptualize, plan, and implement special events and solicitations
- Build and maintain relationships with donors, alumni, and stakeholders
- Recruit, orient, train, and motivate staff and volunteers to support development goals
- Establish priorities, manage multiple tasks, and complete work under tight deadlines
- Communicate persuasively about UCLA's fundraising goals and priorities
Requirements
- Minimum of three years of fundraising experience and/or prior professional experience in a related field
- Experience in and strong documented record of gifts solicited and closed in the annual, special, and/or major gifts range
- Working knowledge of the principles and practices of fundraising in a university setting
- Proven skills in developing sophisticated strategies for major gift solicitations
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work harmoniously with volunteers, academic leaders, faculty, and other development staff
- Demonstrated skill and/or ability to work with senior faculty or equivalent leadership
- Ability to establish priorities, manage multiple tasks, and complete work under tight deadlines
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Impeccable integrity and discretion in dealing with donors, alumni, students, administrators, and colleagues
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
Working Conditions
- Ability to work some weekends and/or evenings as needed
- Ability to travel as needed
Salary and Benefits
UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure, and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common.
