As a Territory Manager, reporting directly to the Region Sales Manager, your primary responsibility will be to enhance sales performance and nurture customer relationships within a designated geographical territory. This role requires exceptional communication skills and a deep understanding of customer needs to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for sales growth.

Painters Supply & Equipment, established in 1952, is a premier distributor of automotive and specialty paints, coatings, and related products in the automotive refinish and specialty coatings sectors. We take pride in offering our clients top-tier products from renowned manufacturers like PPG, 3M, and Norton. With over 50 locations across 12 states, we serve more than 10,000 customers and are looking for dedicated professionals to deliver exceptional service and support our rapid expansion.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Duties

  • Conduct sales calls and presentations to both potential and existing clients.
  • Create a consistent sales call schedule to meet customer expectations.
  • Gain comprehensive knowledge of all products, including their application and preparation, particularly within the PPG automotive line.
  • Assist clients in selecting and applying products to build expert relationships.
  • Enhance sales techniques and methods through ongoing learning.
  • Develop promotional materials and presentations to drive growth in current accounts and attract new ones.
  • Maintain effective communication with vendors, particularly PPG, to optimize resource utilization.
  • Participate in product demonstrations with customers and factory representatives.
  • Attend all sales meetings and contribute to discussions.
  • Formulate effective territory sales and marketing strategies.

Customer Engagement

  • Be readily available to customers for advice and assistance via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients.
  • Address customer complaints and follow up in accordance with company policies.
  • Monitor customer back orders and ensure timely resolution.
  • Provide technical and marketing training to customers as necessary.
  • Assist clients in managing inventory levels.
  • Support color verification and field color formulations.
  • Ensure accurate documentation for consigned inventory and equipment.

Marketing Responsibilities

  • Gather reliable information about customers and the territory.
  • Identify market competitors and analyze their strengths and weaknesses.
  • Understand the competitive advantages of Painters Supply & Equipment Co.
  • Analyze market data to identify opportunities.
  • Become a key resource for customers regarding automotive finishing and related products.
  • Engage in special projects and complete additional duties as assigned.
  • Develop and implement action plans to achieve revenue and profitability goals for both existing and new clients.
  • Prepare sales reports, proposals, quotations, forecasts, and business plans.

Management Duties

  • Manage expenses while adhering to budget constraints and maintain necessary records.
  • Submit required reports and documentation within specified deadlines.
  • Enhance knowledge of the automotive finishing industry through training and professional development.
  • Understand and comply with all aspects of the Quality Management System Manual.
  • Facilitate paperwork flow and provide necessary documentation.
  • Know sales targets and devise action plans to meet or exceed them.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Answer calls professionally and provide knowledgeable responses or take orders as per company guidelines.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner to meet customer service expectations.
  • Operate a vehicle in compliance with all applicable laws while maintaining a good driving record.
  • Carry appropriate automotive insurance as per company policy.
  • Assist in-store operations during peak times or staff absences.
  • Support inside customer service as needed, including processing orders.
  • Utilize POS systems to process sales transactions according to company policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience as a Territory Manager.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven success in increasing sales and revenue; field sales experience is preferred.
  • Ability to develop sales strategies and utilize performance metrics.
  • Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with Salesforce is advantageous.
  • Strong sales and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership capabilities.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work all scheduled hours as needed.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry weights ranging from 25 to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
  • Employee will spend approximately 20% of the time sitting, 60% standing, 10% walking, and 10% performing tasks such as stooping, climbing, and kneeling.
  • Must be able to perceive color differences and wear safety equipment as required.
  • Ability to demonstrate products using various delivery systems, including spray guns.
