Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Youth Specialist at Friends of Youth. As a key member of our Drop-In Services team, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and supportive environment for youth and young adults experiencing homelessness.

Key Responsibilities

**Direct Service Tasks**

  • Provide direct support to young people in accessing essential resources, including food, clothing, and hygiene supplies.
  • Ensure a safe and non-judgmental environment for all young people accessing services.
  • Enforce policies and procedures to maintain a clean and safe facility.
  • Conduct thorough searches of guests' belongings to prevent prohibited items.
  • Offer referrals to relevant resources, such as case management, education, employment, and housing services.
  • Act as a positive role model for young people accessing services.
  • Monitor laundry and shower use.

**Program Tasks**

  • Organize and manage resources, equipment, and activities for daily operations.
  • Wash, dry, and fold bedding, towels, and guests' laundry.
  • Assist with scheduling programming and events.
  • Support the coordination of the Youth Advisory Board.
  • Conduct regular walk-arounds of the surrounding area to ensure safety.
  • Maintain a clean facility after services have concluded.

**Administrative Tasks**

  • Record daily guest interactions in Salesforce.
  • Keep accurate records of items distributed to guests.
  • Participate in grant reporting and coordination.
  • Maintain records of disciplinary actions, bars, and restorative justice.
  • Attend individual supervision, case consultation meetings, and team meetings.
Requirements

**Education and Experience**

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience providing direct services to young adults.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is encouraged.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS365 Power Platform.

**Additional Requirements**

  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Must pass a satisfactory criminal history check.
  • Must pass a satisfactory tuberculosis (TB) test.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid Washington State driver's license.
  • Must have a safe driving record and carry auto liability insurance.
  • Must complete health certification requirements within 30 days of employment.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required.
