We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Grants Accountant to join our team at Friends of Youth. As a Grants Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective management of grants and contracts.
Key Responsibilities- Review and analyze grant contracts, awards, and policies to identify fiscal requirements and allowable costs for compliance and grant billing requirements.
- Set up new grants, generate IDs, enter budget information into the financial system, and update invoicing and reporting trackers.
- Ensure timely billing to grantors for services rendered as allowed in the contract.
- Track aging of receivables and follow up as necessary for timely payments.
- Provide documentation required by the grantor and inform management of any audited findings, overdue invoices, and budget concerns.
- Offer advice and problem-solving support to directors and managers of programs to meet grant requirements.
- Prepare and present quarterly financial reports to directors and managers of programs.
- Maintain grant billing documentation in an organized and searchable manner.
- Support the finance department in annual audits and site visits.
- Assist with the preparation of the annual operating budget.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in general accounting and accounts payable is required.
- Non-profit experience is preferred.
- Grant accounting experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of MS365 Power Platform is required.
- Must satisfactorily pass a criminal history check.
- Must satisfactorily pass a tuberculosis (TB) test.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid Washington State driver's license (or be able to obtain one by date of employment).
- Employees and volunteers who operate their own or Friends of Youth vehicles on Friends of Youth business must have a safe driving record as defined by Friends of Youth.
- Employees and volunteers who operate their own vehicle(s) on Friends of Youth business must carry auto liability insurance that complies with the requirements of Friends of Youth.
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required. There are no exemptions.
- Ability to be onsite in Kirkland, WA Monday through Friday 8:30AM to 5:00PM.

- Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP.
- Knowledge of OMB Uniform Guidance, cost principles, and audit requirements for federal awards is preferred and/or able to quickly learn and apply these types of requirements.
- Knowledge of County and Federal HHS/HUD grant guidelines is preferred and/or able to quickly learn and apply these types of requirements.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Able to work independently, self-direct, and obtain the information needed to perform daily and evolving functions.
- Able to manage multiple tasks and projects, meet multiple and often conflicting deadlines, and keep up with a fast-paced ever-changing work environment.
- Demonstrate flexibility in work settings, maturity of judgment, and ability to maintain cooperative diplomatic working relationships with coworkers, directors, managerial team, and grantors.
- Proficient skill set with Microsoft Office programs.
