Position Overview: The Director of Youth Homeless Services is responsible for the strategic development, implementation, and oversight of the agency's programs dedicated to homeless youth. This role ensures compliance with contractual obligations, accreditation standards, and budgetary guidelines while incorporating the insights and perspectives of youth and young adults into service delivery.
Reporting Structure: This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Homeless Youth Services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management: Participate in the Senior Leadership Team, promoting the agency's standards, policies, and strategic objectives.
- Foster positive relationships with funding sources, referral agencies, and community partners.
- Develop and oversee annual operational plans that align with budgetary goals and strategic initiatives.
- Ensure cross-departmental collaboration in the execution of work plans, adhering to health, safety, and fiscal standards.
- Prepare and manage budgets for various services, ensuring compliance with grant and contract stipulations.
- Oversee accurate data collection and reporting, ensuring alignment with funding requirements and agency standards.
- Implement program evaluation procedures and adhere to Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) protocols.
- Address compliance issues promptly and effectively.
- Maintain the agency's facilities in a serviceable and appealing condition.
- Represent the agency on regional and state service provider networks.
- Ensure timely completion of required documentation and reports.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to address urgent needs outside of regular business hours.
Service Design and Delivery:
- Develop comprehensive guidelines outlining program goals, methodologies, and evaluation criteria.
- Ensure adherence to administrative and personnel policies, updating manuals as necessary.
- Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
Personnel Management:
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and supervision of managers responsible for various service areas.
- Ensure timely completion of performance evaluations.
- Conduct regular supervision sessions with managers and staff.
- Monitor employee performance in relation to agency goals.
- Ensure disciplinary actions comply with agency policies.
- Collaborate with Human Resources on employee-related matters.
- Work with the Director of Learning and Development to create training opportunities for staff.
- Participate in the selection and supervision of interns and volunteers.
- Support managers and staff by providing direct client services as needed.
Community Engagement:
- Maintain strong relationships with funders and community partners.
- Assess community needs to ensure service appropriateness.
- Act as a liaison to maximize service requests and collaborations.
- Represent the agency at community and governmental meetings related to funding and program development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred.
- Five years of experience working with youth experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
- Minimum of three years in a supervisory or management role.
- Proficient in MS365 Power Platform.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of a criminal history check.
- Pass a tuberculosis (TB) test.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Maintain a safe driving record if operating agency vehicles.
- Carry auto liability insurance as required.
- Complete health certification requirements within 30 days of employment.
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory.
