Overview:


The Corporate Ownership Controller serves as the senior financial and accounting authority for each group of ownership entities under their purview.

This role encompasses all facets of financial management, control, accounting, and financial reporting for a designated portfolio of hotel ownership entities.

The responsibilities of the Corporate Ownership Controller include, but are not limited to, the timely, accurate, and responsive execution of the following duties:


Responsibilities:
Establishing, documenting, maintaining, and ensuring compliance with the company's accounting systems and financial reporting controls
Ensuring technical compliance with U.S. GAAP, including conducting research and preparing memos for the timely resolution of complex accounting issues.
Overseeing the financial and accounting components of property transactions, including purchases, sales, and closings
Managing the initial setup of new entities, addressing GAAP compliance, control, and reporting challenges
Ensuring understanding and adherence to all corporate, partnership, debt, and other contractual obligations for hotel-related entities
Conducting timely reviews of monthly financial statements for all hotel properties and related entities, including corporate consolidation and reporting
Coordinating all financial communications with ownership
Overseeing debt, construction, and other financing and capital transactions
Monitoring cash flow, accounts receivable, and operating forecasts for all hotel-related entities
Conducting spot reviews of bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations
Reviewing, approving, and processing certain disbursements
Participating in insurance and property tax administration for hotel properties

Successfully completing internal and external financial audits, including coordinating the work of CPA firms and the assigned Corporate Assistant Ownership Controller, while ensuring timely delivery of requested information to auditors.

This includes providing GAAP or other required financial statements to auditors.
Preparing consolidating and consolidated operating, cash, receivables, and other reports for ownership
Generating any special reports or statements as requested
Handling other special projects and responsibilities as assigned
Monitoring cash flow projections

Qualifications:
8-10+ years of experience in Public Accounting and/or corporate financial management, reporting, and accounting is required.
A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required.
CPA certification is mandatory.
Experience as a Public Accounting Manager or Senior Manager is preferred.
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP as it pertains to the real estate sector is essential.
A commitment to adhering to U.S. GAAP financial accounting and reporting standards is crucial.
Proficient technical accounting research skills are preferred, with the ability to draft and/or review technical accounting position papers with supporting calculations.
Familiarity with the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (11th edition) is preferred.
Experience with Oracle accounting systems is preferred.
Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, and financial accounting systems, are required.
Excellent organizational, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills are necessary.
Willingness to travel and work overtime as needed to fulfill assigned responsibilities.
