Position Summary:

The Financial Controller will oversee and direct the accounting functions of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive system of accounting policies and procedures; implement controls over financial transactions to mitigate risks.
  • Supervise the preparation of regular financial reports; ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Recommend performance benchmarks for evaluating the company's financial health.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes to adhere to established timelines.
  • Conduct detailed reviews of monthly reports, investigating discrepancies to ensure accuracy and clarity.
  • Collaborate with external auditors by providing necessary documentation for the annual audit.
  • Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as required or assigned.
  • Work closely with Service Center Leaders to address inquiries related to Accounts Payable, Sales and Use Tax, and Financial Reports.
  • Coordinate with IT, Credit/Cash Applications, and the General Ledger Group to maintain accurate financial information systems.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Over 10 years of experience in private accounting, with 1-2 years in public accounting, or a combination thereof, including at least 5 years in a management role.
  • Prior experience leading monthly closing cycles in SAP.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Experience in preparing financial statements, managing general ledger functions, conducting balance sheet reconciliations, and overseeing month-end closing processes.
  • Effective communication skills to inform stakeholders of non-standard accounting entries prior to posting.
  • Proven ability to adapt to various accounting systems and reporting software.
  • Strong project management skills, capable of handling multiple priorities and adapting to changing demands.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data formatting.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • CPA certification or a Master's degree in Business Administration is advantageous.
  • Experience in implementing automation solutions to enhance Accounts Payable processes (e.g., RPA, AI, EDI).
  • Experience in optimizing payment processing activities for improved efficiency (e.g., credit cards, virtual cards, ACH).
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, with the majority of the workday spent at a desk.
  • Capability to lift up to 20 pounds regularly.
  • Frequent use of a keyboard.
  • Occasional climbing of stairs may be required.
  • Work primarily conducted in an office environment during standard operating hours.
