Job Overview:

As a pivotal member of the Berklee Presents team, the Concert Production Coordinator plays a vital role in the conception, design, and execution of high-caliber interdisciplinary concerts and events. Under the guidance of the Senior Concert Producer, this position ensures that all production elements are seamlessly integrated to showcase the remarkable talent of students from the College and Conservatory community.

Position Summary:

The Concert Production Coordinator is tasked with overseeing the implementation of concert production components for all Berklee Presents performances. This role is essential in maintaining the highest standards of musical education, creativity, and operational efficiency within an academic environment. The Coordinator provides comprehensive support for artistic programming, including performances, rehearsals, auditions, and special events, fostering an inspiring atmosphere for students to realize their musical aspirations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Senior Concert Producer and creative teams to ensure all production aspects are harmoniously aligned from initial rehearsals to final performances.
  • Support the producer and musical director during rehearsals, ensuring the artistic integrity and quality of the production are upheld.
  • Assist in the recruitment and organization of musicians and accompanists, gaining a thorough understanding of the instrumental needs of each production.
  • Create and maintain the prompt book, detailing sound, lighting, and set cues, while effectively communicating the director's vision to the technical team.
  • Formulate rehearsal schedules in conjunction with the Senior Concert Producer, identifying necessary cast members and objectives for each session.
  • Attend rehearsals and performances to provide mentorship and quality control feedback to both the production team and student performers.
  • Facilitate communication between cast members and the production team, ensuring that all changes are documented and disseminated appropriately.
  • Coordinate the audition process, including promoting auditions and developing schedules in collaboration with marketing and communications.
  • Manage the organization and maintenance of the music library for Berklee Presents productions.
  • Establish effective communication processes for cast scheduling and updates, ensuring the secure handling of sensitive student information.
  • Assist in the management of recording sessions and audio equipment, maintaining an organized inventory.
  • Oversee backstage operations during rehearsals and performances, ensuring timely entrances and technical cue calls.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships within and outside the organization to enhance team collaboration.
  • Act as a liaison with the communications and marketing department to ensure clear interdepartmental communication.
  • Support the hiring and onboarding of student employees as needed.
  • Perform additional administrative tasks to support the Berklee Presents team as required.

Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to collaborate with musicians and creative teams in dynamic environments.
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary music and performing arts.
  • Experience with sound and lighting equipment, as well as project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on cultural sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience in the performing arts industry, preferably in a production or stage management role.
