Position Title: Healthcare Support Specialist
Department: Primary Care
Reports To: Director of Primary Care
POSITION SUMMARYThe Healthcare Support Specialist is responsible for assisting in the delivery of patient care under the supervision of a licensed medical provider. This role involves providing essential referral information to patients within the Primary Care Clinic.

- Conduct patient interviews and health assessments according to established protocols.
- Document and report observations reflecting the care provided and patient progress.
- Assist in developing treatment plans.
- Manage bandages and dressings, apply orthopedic devices, and instruct patients on their use.
- Perform basic ophthalmic tests to gather necessary results.
- Remove sutures or staples from minor wounds.
- Conduct ear lavages to alleviate impacted cerumen.
- Support patients with mobility and transfers.
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist healthcare providers during procedures.
- Provide patient education and instructions as directed by a physician.
- Collect and record vital patient data including height, weight, and blood pressure.
- Administer first aid and CPR in emergencies.
- Handle front office tasks such as answering calls, scheduling appointments, and maintaining patient records.
- Facilitate referrals for primary care services.
- Ensure timely communication and follow-up on referrals.
- Assist with authorization submissions to health plans.
- Support staff coverage as necessary.
- Travel may be required within designated clinic locations.
- Coordinate continuity of care based on provider directives.
- Adhere to organizational policies and HIPAA regulations.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems is preferred.
- Assist with vaccine audits and temperature monitoring as needed.
- Complete other duties as required by management.
Healthcare Support Specialist - Salary Range $25 - $27 Hour DOE
- Completion of an accredited medical assistant program. Phlebotomy certification is advantageous.
A minimum of three months to one year of experience in a medical office, clinic, or hospital setting, or completion of an internship with the organization.
