Role Overview

The Assembly Operator Technician II plays a crucial role within the Silgan Dispensing team, providing an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to enhance their technical skills. Our facility is responsible for the efficient production of thousands of dispensing products daily, making it essential to maintain optimal operational efficiency. The Assembly Operator Technician II ensures the functionality of our equipment by setting up, optimizing production runs, and conducting necessary quality inspections for each machine.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the safe and efficient execution of the assembly process while maintaining high quality and consistency.
  • Conduct complex machine setups, including dip tube changes and mechanical part replacements.
  • Perform quality audits during production runs through visual inspections aligned with the quality plan.
  • Measure, inspect, and test assembly units to identify malfunctions or deviations from specifications, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance on assembly machines to sustain production equipment and minimize downtime.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency enhancements, cost reductions, and quality improvements.
  • Participate in Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) reviews.
  • Assist with Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of quality inspection results and production outcomes.
  • Ensure outgoing products meet required specifications.
  • Address safety, quality, and performance issues as they arise.
  • Execute part changes, such as mold and mechanical part replacements.
  • Conduct diagnostic inspections on machines to determine root causes and corrective actions.
  • Manage machine changeovers, including bearing and cam replacements.
  • Contribute ideas for continuous improvement and support related initiatives.
  • Support timely delivery by operating assembly machines as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Basic skills in shop mathematics and computer usage.
  • Fundamental troubleshooting abilities for mechanical issues.
  • Willingness to assist cross-functional teams as required.
  • Capability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and report data based on machine performance.
  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Willingness to learn, grow, and adapt to evolving business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proactive approach to assisting cross-functional teams.
  • Strong independent work ethic and initiative.
  • Ability to analyze and report data effectively.
  • Prioritization skills are essential.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 lbs.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on the production floor.
  • Physical activities include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, stooping, crouching, color determination, and grasping.
