Role Overview

The Assembly Operator Technician II plays a crucial role within the Silgan Dispensing team, providing an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to enhance their technical skills. Our facility is responsible for the daily production of thousands of dispensing products, making it essential to maintain efficient and continuous operations. The Assembly Operator Technician II ensures the functionality of our equipment by setting up, optimizing production runs, and conducting quality checks as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safely and efficiently complete the assembly process while ensuring high quality and consistency.
  • Execute a variety of complex machine setups, including dip tube changes and mechanical part replacements.
  • Conduct quality inspections during production runs, aligning with established quality standards.
  • Measure, examine, and test assembly units to identify malfunctions or deviations from specifications, making adjustments as needed.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on assembly machinery to sustain production efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency enhancements, cost reductions, and quality improvements.
  • Participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) reviews.
  • Assist with Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of quality inspection results and production metrics.
  • Ensure outgoing products meet required specifications.
  • Report any safety, quality, or performance issues as necessary.
  • Handle part changes, such as mold replacements and mechanical part swaps.
  • Conduct diagnostics inspections on machines to determine root causes and corrective actions.
  • Manage machine changeovers, including bearing and cam replacements.
  • Contribute ideas for continuous improvement and support related initiatives.
  • Support timely delivery by operating assembly machines as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Basic skills in shop mathematics and computer usage.
  • Fundamental troubleshooting skills for mechanical issues.
  • Willingness to collaborate with cross-functional teams as required.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Capability to analyze, interpret, and report on machine performance data.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Adaptability to learn and grow in response to changing business needs.

  • Strong analytical and reporting skills.
  • Effective prioritization of tasks.
  • Good verbal and written communication abilities.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 lbs.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on the production floor.
  • Physical activities include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, stooping, crouching, color determination, and grasping.
