Position Summary:

The Utilities Operations Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing the efficient functioning, maintenance, and management of all plant utility systems while supervising department personnel. The ideal candidate will have expertise in essential utility systems such as Anhydrous Ammonia Refrigeration, Plant Water, Steam Generation, Pneumatic Systems, Fire Protection, and HVAC.

This position is responsible for leading the night shift technicians, establishing work priorities, and ensuring that the facility's operational requirements are met. Compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations is a vital aspect of this role, supported by our Process Safety Management program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Model safety and food safety standards, ensuring team adherence and addressing any issues.
  • Possess comprehensive mechanical and operational knowledge of plant utility systems to effectively train and assist technicians.
  • Develop and maintain a robust onboarding training program for new hires.
  • Mentor and enhance the skills of utility technicians, utilizing the Dupont training system.
  • Utilize the current CMMS/SAP system for data management and train team members accordingly.
  • Support technicians through preventative maintenance and repair activities.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings, huddles, and supervisor rounds to ensure team engagement and performance.
  • Participate in plant audits and ensure follow-up on preventive maintenance reviews.
  • Collaborate with other departments to meet customer needs and foster positive relationships.
  • Manage inventory orders for parts and materials as required.
  • Ensure effective PM procedures and schedules are in place for optimal equipment performance.
  • Supervise team members to maintain productivity and job performance standards.
  • Adhere to all PSM, safety, and environmental policies while promoting a culture of safety awareness.
  • Engage actively in the Process Safety Management program.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and positive attitude as part of the management team.
  • Encourage open communication and teamwork across all departments.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and personnel development.
  • Recommend and implement process improvement projects.
  • Contribute to the overall Engineering & Maintenance organization.
  • Evaluate and recommend maintenance support resources to maximize effectiveness.
  • Play a key role in facilitating organizational change in alignment with company objectives.
Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in Industrial Refrigeration is preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role; 5 years of experience in a mechanical or refrigeration-related field is preferred, with a strong understanding of ammonia refrigeration processes.

  • Experience in the food processing and packaging industry is advantageous, along with knowledge of utility systems such as Water, Steam, Pneumatics, Fire Protection, and HVAC.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in CMMS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with a focus on independent and results-driven work.

Travel Requirements: Minimal travel (0-5%) to corporate headquarters and other facilities as needed.

Salary Range: $59,000 - $115,000.
