Sponsored TV: A New Frontier

We are in the process of developing a suite of groundbreaking services for a new advertising initiative, Sponsored TV, which leverages rich video content optimized for various platforms, including mobile and desktop. This is a unique opportunity to define the user experience, video services, content delivery, asset management, and advertiser self-service functionalities from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a visionary leader, proactively identifying potential challenges and maintaining high standards of technical excellence in machine learning (ML).
  • Take ownership of complex, strategic solutions that drive significant revenue.
  • Establish evaluation methods and metrics to assess viewer experience, such as ad relevance, and develop scientifically robust and scalable solutions tailored for the streaming TV environment.
  • Deeply understand the Sponsored TV offering and pinpoint opportunities for business growth through principled ML applications.
  • Research, develop, and implement innovative ML solutions across various technical domains.
  • Identify unexplored, high-risk technical and scientific avenues, fostering new research directions.
  • Communicate our ML advancements to both internal and external scientific communities.
  • Mentor and guide senior scientists, fostering a culture of growth and innovation.
  • Collaborate with engineering leaders to create efficient and scalable solutions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • Over 10 years of practical ML experience delivering solutions that address real-world challenges and meet business objectives at scale.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience leading multiple ML teams to design customer-centric products.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Published research in academic or industry forums.
  • Experience deploying large-scale deep learning models for online recommendation, personalization, or search.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with engineering teams to ensure deep learning solutions meet performance requirements.
  • Expertise in influencing product strategy through advanced research in deep learning.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for diverse audiences.
  • Excellent business acumen, balancing technology, product, and business priorities.
  • Proficient in machine learning, statistics, and experimental design.
  • Experience in building and leading teams of applied scientists.
  • Ability to collaborate and influence across various teams, including science, engineering, economics, and business.
