Job Description:


The Proteomics Group at Sloan Kettering Institute (SKI) in New York City is on the lookout for a specialist in mass spectrometry-based proteomics.

We are eager to recruit a proactive, innovative, and driven Lead Research Scientist to deliver cutting-edge proteomic expertise that will enhance and support various projects across SKI.

The successful applicant will take charge of designing and executing proteomic experiments, developing LC-MS based proteomics methodologies, and exploring advanced techniques (such as single-cell proteomics and immunopeptidomics). The methodologies will encompass, but are not limited to, proteomics, phosphoproteomics, interaction proteomics, targeted proteomics, and chemoproteomics. Close collaboration with fellow scientists to design experiments is essential. A strong background in proteomics, data analysis, and protein biochemistry, along with a proven track record in proteomics and familiarity with high-resolution mass spectrometry instruments and HPLC systems, is preferred.

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • A PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 3 years of research experience in academia and/or industry in proteomics/mass spectrometry.
  • Proficiency in mass spectrometry-based proteomics, including proteome profiling, post-translational modifications, protein-protein interactions, and chemoproteomics.
  • Experience in targeted proteomics (PRM/SRM) is preferred.
  • A working knowledge of statistics as it pertains to experimental design and the ability to perform data analysis using various software (e.g., Perseus, GraphPad Prism, etc.).
  • Familiarity with a scripting language (R, Python, etc.) is preferred.
  • Experience collaborating within an interdisciplinary team of scientists in a highly cooperative environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey results to a cross-functional team.
  • A demonstrated capacity to critically assess data and creatively approach experimental design.
  • A history of methodological innovation.
  • A record of scientific achievements, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and presentations.
  • The ability to contribute to multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating learning agility and scientific rigor.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with scientists from various disciplines.

Salary Range:
$74,263 – $110,000
