Position Summary
The IaaS Systems and Storage & Engineering (ISSE) team operates within the Operations & Infrastructure technology division at Visa.

Key Responsibilities


As a member of our cloud infrastructure engineering and architecture team, you will adopt, integrate, and engineer leading-edge technologies and management solutions for both on-premises container platforms and public clouds, with a focus on Kubernetes, microservices architecture, and cloud technologies.

You will take full ownership of the solutions provided to our clients, ensuring the availability, performance, security, and reliability of applications operating on the infrastructure we design, implement, and support.

Additionally, you will define, promote, and deliver standard foundational services for Visa's public cloud implementations, collaborating closely with stakeholders to design and implement solutions with a robust security framework, deliver functionalities at optimized costs, and enhance developer productivity.

Together, we will achieve these objectives on a global scale. Continuous, iterative enhancements in our processes, technologies, tools, and automation will be vital to achieving these goals.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong technological background with extensive knowledge of Linux operating systems, containers, Kubernetes, and Microservices architecture.

Experience in leading the design and implementation of infrastructure solutions on major public clouds, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, is essential.

Proficiency in programming/scripting languages such as Golang, Python, Ansible, or Terraform is required. Familiarity with CI/CD processes for development and deployment, along with experience in open-source projects, is highly valued. You will play a pivotal role in delivering secure, highly available, and scalable infrastructure solutions along with associated automation.

This is a hybrid role. Hybrid employees can alternate between remote and office work.

Employees in hybrid positions are expected to work from the office 2-3 designated days a week (as determined by leadership/site), with a general guideline of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business requirements.


Qualifications
Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 7 years of experience with an Advanced degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 4 years of experience with a PhD, OR 13+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications

  • 12 or more years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of experience with a PhD
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • 10 years of experience as a DevOps engineer automating infrastructure deployment
  • Experience managing production container ecosystems - Docker, Kubernetes, Service Mesh (Istio or Linkerd), CNI (Calico, Cilium) and CSI drivers
  • Proven track record of defining technology roadmaps, executing defined technology strategies, and driving adoption across a large enterprise
  • Experience architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions on one of the public clouds (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Extensive experience automating system tasks and infrastructure using scripting languages (Golang, Python), with configuration management tools (Ansible), service registry and discovery tools (Consul and Vault, etcd), infrastructure orchestration tools (Ansible, Terraform), and automated imaging tools (Packer)
  • Experience designing, building, and/or operating production systems in the cloud or migrating to the cloud, practicing infrastructure as code, continuous integration, automated deployment, automated testing, autoscaling, and self-healing
  • Experience leading modernization efforts for applications adopting contemporary approaches (e.g., REST APIs, microservices, etc.)
  • Experience utilizing and optimizing monitoring and observability systems (Sysdig, Prometheus, Grafana), log aggregation systems (ELK, Splunk, Fluentd), and familiarity with emerging OpenTelemetry standards
  • Deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle, including Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline architecture (Jenkins, GitLab, Drone), including deployments into Kubernetes environments using tools such as ArgoCD or Flux
  • Experience with network and application protocols (e.g., TCP, HTTP) and databases, including one RDBMS and one columnar or NoSQL store
  • Able to comprehend security tools and best practices: CIS Benchmarking, OS hardening, vulnerability scanning, system auditing
  • Networking experience both within Linux and with Cisco or Juniper network routers and switches
  • Strong analytical skills, capable of working independently to troubleshoot and resolve complex engineering challenges. Make independent judgments/decisions within established guidelines
  • Experience conducting full stack load testing to identify and address hardware, network, system, or application bottlenecks
  • Self-starter with excellent time management skills, able to manage multiple activities simultaneously with minimal oversight
  • Proven ability to lead with enthusiasm and execute vision with minimal guidance
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with peers, management, and external contacts
  • High degree of initiative and urgency, comfortable with changing needs and ambiguity

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies based on departmental needs.

Travel Requirements: This position may require travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office environment. The role will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, and frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 147,400.00 to 213,800.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable).

Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
