Role Overview:
The Technology Organization at Visa is a collective of innovators and problem solvers dedicated to transforming the commerce landscape. We manage one of the most advanced processing networks globally, capable of executing over 65,000 secure transactions per second, serving 80 million merchants and 15,000 financial institutions.

The Lead System Architect is tasked with the design and execution of projects within public cloud frameworks, particularly focusing on Microsoft Azure. This role demands a profound understanding of relevant technologies, methodologies, and standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Defining and documenting architectural frameworks.
  • Capturing and detailing non-functional requirements.
  • Preparing estimates and outlining technical solutions.
  • Guiding project teams through comprehensive design and deployment activities.
  • Conducting reviews and resolving technical challenges.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with Operations, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and Product Development teams to formulate Hybrid cloud solutions, addressing the complexities of technology, regulatory, security, and competitive landscapes.

The Systems Architect should possess a strong background in public and hybrid cloud environments, workload migration, and cloud-native design. A positive demeanor and exceptional communication skills are essential for effectively sharing expertise.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Principal Cloud Architects to drive public cloud strategies and standards.
  • Oversee the intake and solutioning phases for new Cloud workloads.
  • Architect and deliver innovative solutions in public cloud environments.
  • Develop standardized automation templates for public cloud infrastructure deployment.
  • Implement a cloud-native approach to create greenfield solutions aligned with business objectives.
  • Incorporate security measures into all design and implementation processes.
  • Document standard designs and maintain updated documentation.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer to engineering and operations teams regarding architecture and delivery of public cloud solutions.
  • Engage actively in cloud computing communities and forums.

This position operates in a hybrid model, allowing flexibility between remote and office work. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office a minimum of 50% of the time based on business needs.


Qualifications:
Basic:
  • 10+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or 7 years with an Advanced Degree, or 4 years with a PhD, or 13+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred:
  • 12+ years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 8-10 years with an Advanced Degree.
  • 2+ years of proven experience with Azure, including enterprise-level solution design and implementation.
  • Expertise in architecting public cloud landing zones for various applications.
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud infrastructure and platform services, particularly in Azure.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud architecture and engineering for large enterprise networks.
  • Strong understanding of public cloud networking, compute, storage, and governance services.
  • Experience with open-source infrastructure as code (IaC) tools and automation software.
  • 5+ years of experience across multiple public cloud providers.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise-level technologies implementing cloud-native and hybrid solutions.
  • 3+ years of experience with container technologies in production environments.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong teamwork and partnership abilities in a global context.
  • Advanced cloud certifications are a plus.

Additional Information:
  • This position may require travel 5-10% of the time.
  • The role will be performed in an office setting, requiring the ability to sit and stand at a desk and operate standard office equipment.
