Role Responsibilities:

The Personnel Security Specialist will collaborate with the Recruitment and Operations teams to oversee security processes, manage competing priorities, and ensure timely task completion while adhering to quality standards and mission objectives.

Key Duties Include:

  • Coordinating security package processes with candidates and hiring managers, ensuring all documentation is current and accurately reflects any changes.
  • Screening and managing requests for personnel security clearances and background investigations, working closely with the Operations Supervisor.
  • Collecting, organizing, and tracking security-related forms and information.
  • Reviewing personnel security forms for accuracy and completeness.
  • Communicating with candidates regarding credit check reports and any additional information needed.
  • Maintaining continuous communication with Recruitment staff about security packages and applicant tracking updates.
  • Interpreting and conveying government guidelines and organizational policies to team members.
  • Managing all aspects of the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) and related security activities.
  • Supporting Requests for Proposal and business development efforts with security expertise.
  • Building and maintaining productive relationships with security departments within relevant agencies.

Qualifications:

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams).
  • Familiarity with e-QIP, NISPOM requirements, and various clearance types.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Typing speed of at least 45 words per minute.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with 2 to 4 years of experience as an Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO).
  • Experience with government online programs such as DISS, e-QIP, and NISS.
  • Strong knowledge of security documents and NISPOM requirements.
  • Experience in handling and safeguarding Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

Work Environment:

This position is based at MVM's corporate headquarters in Ashburn, VA, with a hybrid work schedule requiring a minimum of two days per week onsite.


Conditions of Employment:

Applicants must complete a comprehensive culture and competency assessment, pass a drug test, and meet eligibility requirements for a Public Trust Clearance.


Security Clearance Requirements:

Selected candidates will undergo a government background investigation and must meet specific eligibility criteria for access to classified information.
