Role Responsibilities
The Operations Support Specialist plays a crucial role within the Operations Team at CloudHQ. This position is responsible for providing essential infrastructure assistance to the Operations Management Team, ensuring the seamless day-to-day functioning of a large-scale electrical and mechanical data center facility while upholding the highest standards of reliability and availability.
The ideal candidate will possess a background in carpentry, familiarity with general building hardware (such as doors, locks, windows, and flooring), and basic administrative capabilities. This role will involve close collaboration with CloudHQ management to maintain the facility and grounds in optimal condition.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Support the ongoing operations of the facility
- Assist with minor modifications to the facility
- Act as a security monitor
- Facilitate shipping and receiving tasks
- Maintain facility logs in accordance with compliance requirements and assist with record filing
- Help managers obtain price quotations and bid proposals related to facility needs
- Coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance for facility equipment and grounds
- Contribute to cleaning and general upkeep of the facility
- Perform general maintenance tasks, including light carpentry, landscaping, changing light bulbs, and painting
- Assist with door hardware adjustments and replacements as needed
- Utilize standard hand tools effectively
- Support the maintenance of HVAC systems, electrical systems, fire extinguishers, and other facility equipment
- Keep work areas organized and safe
- Organize and file facility-related documents
- Conduct local travel as required
- Monitor office and breakroom supplies; compile monthly resupply lists
- Perform daily visual inspections of common areas and exterior grounds
- Conduct monthly visual inspections of the roof area
- Handle plumbing tasks, including drain cleaning and unclogging sinks
- Replace ceiling tiles and restroom fixtures as necessary
Qualifications:
- A minimum of two years of experience in a facilities or operations role, preferably in a commercial property setting
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
- Strong problem-solving skills along with technical and organizational expertise
- Ability to actively seek feedback to ensure responsibilities and deliverables meet expectations
- Skills in carpentry, painting, and general mechanical tasks
- A sense of urgency in completing tasks
